Overview
Driftwell is a local macOS utility for temporarily holding files, images, videos, documents, links, and web references. It is designed to work on your Mac without requiring an account or cloud service.
No account and no cloud sync
Driftwell does not require a user account. Driftwell does not provide cloud synchronization. Items you add to Driftwell are stored locally on your Mac unless you choose to move or export them elsewhere.
Local file storage
When you drop local files into Driftwell, the app may create an internal local copy so the item remains available inside Driftwell even if the original source location changes. Quick Look previews, drag-out, and export actions use the local stored copy where applicable.
Web references
When you drag an image or reference from the web, Driftwell may store source metadata locally inside the app. This can include the source URL, image URL, source domain, page title if provided by the drag data, and the time the item was captured.
This metadata is used to help you remember where a reference came from. Driftwell does not load the webpage inside the app, fetch favicons, or send this metadata to a server.
No network-based analytics
Driftwell does not use network-based analytics. It does not track how you use files, what references you collect, or what you preview.
App Store and system permissions
Driftwell may request file access through standard macOS interactions such as drag and drop, file export, or user-selected folders. These permissions are used only to perform the action you requested.
Data removal
You can remove items from Driftwell using the app’s delete or clear actions. Removing an item from Driftwell does not imply deletion from every external location where you may have copied or exported the file.
